TEMPEST Filters

Transient Electromagnetic Pulse Emanation Standard (TEMPEST) filters are used to attenuate conducted emissions and help prevent unintentional electromagnetic emissions that could be exploited for signal intelligence. These filters protect sensitive client information, banking data, and intellectual property from being intercepted by unauthorized users.

Custom TEMPEST filters feature a compact, space-saving design that does not sacrifice isolation or performance capabilities. They are available in standard or high-performance solutions and engineered to meet even the most demanding requirements, with the following performance characteristics:

  • Voltage rating. 120 to 230 VAC at 60 Hz
  • Operating temperature. -55 ºC to +71 ºC
  • Current rating. 0 to 50A

Cylindrical Style Filters

Cylindrical filters are commonly used in space-constrained or environmentally demanding applications. Our standard and custom cylindrical-style filters can be tailored to meet our customers’ exact specifications. They are designed for continuous operation at a temperature range of -55 ºC to +125 ºC, and AC filters can function at a power frequency up to 400 Hz.

All cylindrical-style filters rated at 10 amps or less utilize solder-type terminals, while those rated above 10 amps feature stud-type terminals. Both types of terminals meet MIL-PRF-15733 requirements for insulation resistance and are designed to withstand rigorous over-voltage dielectric testing.

High-Current Capacitors

Captor Corporation offers high-current capacitors in feedthrough and mini feedthrough line-to-ground configurations to suppress high-frequency noise on power lines by suppressing EMI/RFI in electrical systems. Filtering out unwanted noise enables a system to operate as intended without interruption, improving device performance.

High-current capacitors play a vital role in challenging applications found in the aerospace, industrial automation, and medical technology sectors, where high current handling and effective EMI suppression are required. Selecting the right size, frequency, and voltage is crucial for meeting application-specific parameters.

MIL-COTS Filters

Our new series of MIL-COTS filters features single-phase and three-phase (Wye and Delta) configurations to meet the unique demands of MIL-STD-461 applications. These AC/DC filters effectively mitigate conducted emissions from 10 KHz to 10 MHz. By integrating feedthrough capacitors into our filter assemblies, depending on system integration and shielding configuration, attenuation can be maintained up to 1 GHZ when installed with shielding that isolates both input and output compartments.

MIL-COTS filters comply with industry standards, meeting the maximum capacitance to ground limits for both 60 Hz and 400 Hz power line frequencies. The assemblies are designed to withstand strict environmental regulations, delivering reliable performance in all air, ground, and sea military applications.

HEMP Filters Power, Control, and Signal Lines

High-Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) filters protect electrical equipment and infrastructure from electromagnetic pulses caused by solar flares, geomagnetic storms, and high-altitude nuclear blasts. These filters are vital to national defense applications, helping to prevent damage to communication and electronic devices in the military and civil sectors.

Captor Corporation manufactures a wide variety of standard and high-performance HEMP filter solutions, which include:

  • Control/signal line HEMP filters
  • Power line HEMP filters
  • Power line HEMP filters (Legacy)
  • NEMA cabinets for multiple HEMP filters

Shielded Facility Room Filters

EMI shielded facility room filters are primarily used to safeguard spaces from external EMI while preventing conducted EMI from entering or exiting shielded enclosures. Shield rooms and secured areas rely on RF-shielded filters for adequate privacy and protection. At Captor Corporation, our EMI shielded facility room filters feature the following specifications:

  • Voltage rating. 277/480 VAC at 60 Hz
  • Current rating. 50 to 800A
  • Operating temperature. -40 ºC to +65 ºC
